L-Vessels
Produced over several firings by mixing curated colors that are subsequently carefully and slowly stretched to produce a very large vessel. Diamond tooling and the occasional use of sandblasting provide finishing touches. Challenging to create, beautiful to admire.
Selected L-Vessels
-
Navigating by Asterisms
14” (W) by 14” (H)
A blue green base glass with swirls of neutrals. -
Lines in Honey
Large, 14” (W) x 16” (H)
While it may appear like honey, this sculpture was inspired by bees and their critical importance to our ecosystem. -
Land & Sea
14” (W) x 13” (H)
-
Tearing the Fascists Down
17” (L) x 15” (W) x 10” (H)
Inspired by “Tear the Faciscts Down” as sung in Masters of the Air (2024) by Eithne (acoustic version). Cast “London Fog” blue base molded to appear “bombed out,” with a translucent sandblasted opaline drop vessel reaching toward the sky. -
Abyss / Summer Nights
14” (W) x 16” (H)
A vessel inspired both by what lies below the sea, “Abyss” and the beauty of summer evenings, “Summer Nights.” This is a sandblasted vessel with a rich and “silky” textual experience. -
Macaw
14” (W) x 15” (H)
Kilnformed Glass Mosaic
Tomato Red and Deep Sea Blue Interior -
Pursuing Blue
14.5" (W) x 11" (H)
Flowing pieces of blue glass combined with a low iron clear to avoid green tinting. Sandblasted. -
Lavender Marble
14” (W) x 15” (H)
This is a neodymium containing glass (originally called “Alexandrite” when first developed in 1927), custom mixed into a glass mosaic by the artist. Due to the neodymium content, this glass will appear either blue or lavender depending on the external light source. -
Under and Over the Sea
14” (W) x 10” (H)
Turquoise Blue Glass. As an avid scuba diver and instructor, this is often my view when I look up while I’m underwater. -
Birds in Flight
14” (W) x 9” (H)
Robin’s Egg blue carefully combined to react with a white glass. -
Un-named
